Guided by instructor/trainer Stella Prescott, riders of all levels are given the chance to excel at horsemanship.

Stella graduated from the University of Georgia in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Equine Science, minoring in Agriculture Business. While at UGA, Mrs. Prescott took part in a fellowship at the University of Queensland, Australia, where she specialized in breeding. She also taught several lecture and riding classes per week, and studied under Kenny Mae, a widely known "natural horsemanship" instructor. In 1996 Stella was one of only two people from Georgia chosen to help manage the Equestrian Olympic Games.

Star Ridge's main focus is on Equitation Hunters. Miss Stella, as she is referred to by her students, basically defines equitation as "neatness counts.” Whether she is instructing a first time rider, pleasure rider, or show competitor, the safety of “Miss Stella’s” students and their horses comes first.

The benefits you receive at Star Ridge Stables will not only help your wallet, but will enhance your child’s life. Our instructors have been involved with horses all their lives. Our trainers believe in positive reinforcement. We hope to teach students as much about life as we teach them about horses. We encourage all of our students to set individual goals.

Our students are very successful in and out of the show ring, and many of them go on to compete on college varsity equestrian teams as well. Today horseback riding can help get your child a college education. Several universities now have a varsity equestrian teams and give out scholarships. Darragh McCollum, Amber Sims and Elizabeth Hornbrook rode for the University of Georgia. Sarah Bosko and Lisa Chastian competed for Berry College. Teresa Hull showed for College of Charleston. Ashley Swizter wanting to pursue a career in horses, went on to attend the very prestigious Virginia Intermont. Let us help your child reach his or her goal. The sky is the limit and we will help them reach for the stars!
